Does anyone know who made this Vintage Mountain Bike Frame?
The components on this bike are suntour derailleur and Dia-compe brakes and brake handles. The Crank is also Suntour. I bought this off of Craigslist locally and think its real cool and has great components. I think its from the 80s but I don't know who made it. Here are some pictures. http://www.flickr.com/photos/23195331@N05/5326291670/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/23195331@N05/5326291782/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/23195331@N05/5326291706/ Its either been repainted or some one took the decals off. i paid $10.00 is going to make a good winter bike. The parts along are worth more than that. doesnt have nothing to do with vintage and its a winter bike to ride. It just needs cleaned up.

Well, you certainly got your money's worth. It would be hard to tell who made the frame, and it doesn't really matter. It appears to be a pretty standard TIG welded steel frame of good quality. The components are also good quality. The shifters, although they are friction, are Suntour power shifters, one of the best designs ever, I had a set on a bike I used for years for commuting with never a problem. Those older non suspension mountain bikes are very versatile. They make good commuters, and can even be converted for use as touring bikes. Very rugged and simple to repair. This will make a great winter bike

I have a vintage schwinn hornet bicycle and i don't know what year it is or what its worth.?
It belonged to my 50 year old dads grandfather. It is blue and white and it is nicely panted. It has has not been re panted but the paint looks like its new. The lower part of the frame is curved. I did some resherch and i think that has something to do with the age. It has a schwinn head plate above the front fender and still has the cargo rack on the back fender. It has a basket on the handle bars. I need help idenfing the age and the value. If anyone has a better way of finding more about it please tell me. Thank you.

Check the serial number for the manufacturing date then google the date and bike. You can find old catalogs with the bike in it. Old roads is another site to check out. http://www.oldroads.com/ http://www.sheldonbrown.com/chicago-schwinns.html

What to get my boyfriend's traditional Korean father?
My boyfriend has a VERY traditional Korean father and I have absolutely no idea what to buy him for Christmas. I'm not of the same culture so I'm not too familiar with their superstitions/culture. I was thinking of buying him a vintage framed Chinese dagger with dragons carved on its sheath and handle... Does anyone know if that violates any Korean superstition? Or even give me some suggestions please? I don't know too much about his dad except he likes to play golf, read, and hang out at home... I didn't want to get him anything golf related since it's winter and he can't do much with golfing items. Thanks! His dad does not speak a word of English so books would be out of the question and I'd rather not get him anything too subjective...

Do not ever buy a Korean a knife. Giving someone a knife in Korea means that you want to cut off the relationship with that person. If he likes golf get him something golf related. Ask your boyfriend what his dad likes. Maybe you could just get him a card and a gift certificate to a book store. Do not give: expensive gifts (Koreans will feel obligated to reciprocate with a gift of equal value), knives or scissors (they signify "cutting off" a relationship), green headwear, gifts with red writing (denotes death) or gifts in a set of four (denotes death).

Should i buy this road bike?
to make things very very clear. i am not looking for a race. i need a bike because road bikes are faster/easier to move with instead of my bulky mountain bike from 7th grade. i live in richmond now cuz of college, and richmond is flat and full of hippies that ride road bikes. so i want to ride a road bike like the rest of richmond. not my stupid rusty mt bike. its all rust. you can probably see more percent rust than silver metal. anyways. I don't need no 24 speed crap. I don't special shit to beat lance armstrong okay! I JUST WANT A GOOD USED ROAD BIKE. USED! NOT NEW! USED! and literally my description of the bike: it looks like 3, 1 inch poles weilded together. I hate that thick frame shit. I like that vintage look of the vintage road bikes their frames are so thin. I love it. Other than that. I want the racing handles. I don't want no mt bike handles or that hybrid bull shit either. anyways im been looking around like crazy and i found this online i am 5'10" so it might fit me. its a 54 cm frame bike. here is the link: http://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/2206325626.html and i found this http://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/2206384946.html and remeber i don't need anythign special. something that won't break. something that will last, and something that is worth the money and is good. And something that looks like what i described. and used for commuting. not racing. _____________________________________ why the hell would i want a bmx bike? i dont care for tricks i wanna get from A to B. the fastest and easiest way. A mt bike is heavy and i tried my friends road bike. I can pedal as fast as i can in the highest gears downhill possible. my friend in his road bike will take 3 revolutions with his pedals and he will be faster than me. by 2. so fuck Mt bikes and BMX bikes. and BMX are so low u gotta be off seat most of the entire time. BMx bikes are stupid for commuting. I just think their stupid in general. Im going road bike bro. And im never going back.

One is a 54cm frame. The other a 56 cm frame. I know - doesn't sound like a huge difference. But it could be the difference between riding enjoyment & riding misery. Both good bikes. Go test ride them both EXTENSIVELY. Whichever one one rides the best & feels the best to you - make an offer. As always on craigslist - it never hurts to negotiate. BTW...welcome to the world of real bicycles. From the sound of it - your MTB was a discount store special. Get a road bike & take care of it. Always store inside & buy a good U-Bolt lock!
